Castle Hill to the Castle of St. Matthew

the neck area of \u200b\u200bSan Matthew is subject to archaeological restrictions and has been identified in the Territorial Plan of Coordination between the education of the Veneto Region for the establishment of regional archaeological parks. In fact, there are the remains of a defensive character house in the Middle Ages.
We read in the Regional Plan, the following description:
"The area's highest hill is kept in sight, even for a few strokes, part of a powerful structure
(keep), and a wide air at lower altitudes is within
a boundary wall still emerging.
E 'can be expected to bring to light the structures preserved with appropriate campaigns
excavation, returning precise connotations, from a historical and chronological, construction,
who had to precede in time the Scaliger castle built at the shortest price on the same hillside
.
the oldest defensive structure is probably connected with the church of San Matteo,
located precisely at the top of the hill in an area immediately adjacent to that of the supposed
keep.
An appropriate restoration and archaeological investigation would allow some reading and organic
proper function of this structure also, which fits with the remains of the oldest castle
in a hilly area where the environmental value should certainly be protected.
Area: 2.5992 has.

The picture shows the top of the hill where the remains are emerging now completely submerged in a tangle of brambles.
